Un livre qui retrace l’itinéraire de Daniel Bonnechère et sa fidélité à l’Evangile comme prêtre ouvrier de la Mission de France puis dans le mariage avec Michèle, auteure de cet ouvrage.
Fils de petits paysans normands, Daniel Bonnechère (1927-2020) connut la guerre et l’exode avec sa famille. Marqué par le scoutisme et un service militaire qui le mènera successivement au Maroc, en Algérie et en Allemagne, il entre au Séminaire d’Issy les Moulineaux en 1948. Il y restera jusqu’en 1952 où il rejoindra comme stagiaire la paroisse de Saint Hippolyte dans le 13ème arrondissement de Paris. Dirigée par un prêtre de la jeune Mission de France, cette paroisse est alors, dans un quartier ouvrier, un centre d’initiatives sociales et d’innovations liturgiques. C’est là que naît chez Daniel sa vocation de prêtre-ouvrier (PO) qu’il concrétisera, lors de son ordination en 1955, en entrant à la Mission de France. Vicaire à Saint-Hippolyte pour la période 1955-1967, il va se mettre au travail à temps partiel de 1958 à 1965, ensuite à plein temps dans le métier de soudeur. D’abord dans diverses entreprises, comme Babccok, puis chez Renault Billancourt en 1970 où il restera jusqu’à sa retraite .
En 1969, Daniel avait fait le choix du mariage avec Michèle Bartoli. Cet acte de liberté sur l’obligation du célibat à vie créera une situation de fait à la Mission de France. Son récit nous restitue ainsi les luttes et les expériences de la seconde moitié du XXè siècle, avec des formes nouvelles de solidarité. Aujourd’hui que la crise du christianisme et de l’Eglise catholique s’avère profonde et durable, ce livre, écrit par son épouse en forme de témoignage, est éclairant et porteur d’espérance.
